The Express Entry (EE) program is an electronic application management system that ranks immigration candidates using a comprehensive ranking score (CRS). This CRS is based on a candidate’s education, age, language Skills (English and/or French), work experience, job Offers, provincial nomination and ties to Canada. Applicants who meet the set minimum requirement for any class under Express Entry will undergo the Express Entry (EE) pre-application processes.
Express Entry Pre-Application Process:
Expression of interest:
Foreign national creates an Express Entry online profile on the IRCC website and submits an expression of interest within 60 days.
Invitation to Apply:
Applicant receives Invitation to Apply (ITA) if their CRS score point is up to or more than the cut-off point.
Submission of complete pr application to IRCC:
Applicant has 90 days to submit a complete permanent residence application.

The Express Entry (EE) application creates a pool of qualified candidates from certain economic immigration programs such as Federal Skilled Workers (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP).
Though meeting the minimum criteria for any of the four classes [ FSW, FST, CEC and PNP] makes you eligible to enter the express entry pool, it does not guarantee qualifying for an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Only candidates who meet the monthly IRCC assigned CRS cut-off receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Your eligibility in the pool has a one-year or 12 months validity period. If after your one year stay in the pool, you do not receive an ITA, you will be required to exit the pool and reapply again.
High ranking candidates in the EE pool who either meet or exceed the IRCC CRS cut-off receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) allows candidates who receive an ITA up to 60 days period to submit their permanent residence application.
Failure to meet the 60-days permanent residence application deadline voids your ITA and you will be asked to exit the pool. You need to reapply again if you want to enter the pool.
The CRS is a point-based ranking system that reflects a potential candidate’s human capital and ability to become economically established in Canada.
Candidates receive additional points for other factors such as French language skills, family members who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, job offers, Provincial / Territorial nomination.
It assesses all the information on a candidate’s profile and ranks the candidate based on:
Age
Education
Work Experience
Official Language proficiency
CRS Eligibility Assessment
The maximum CRS point is 1,200 and it is spread across the four categories of core human capital factors, skills transferability, spousal /common law partner factors and additional factors.
Skills and Experience Factors:
This category assesses and scores core human capital factors such as age, level of education, official language proficiency and Canadian work experience to a maximum of 500 points.
Spousal and Common-Law-Partner Factors:
This category applies to candidates with spouses or common law partners, as the core human capital factor of spouses or partners are assessed and allotted a maximum of 40 points.
Skill Transferability Factors:
This category is set up to compare a combination of language skills with education and work experience. The skill transferability factor is a predictor variable on a candidate’s ability to become economically established in Canada, and the maximum score is 100 points.
Additional factors:
The remaining 600 points is distributed to additional factors such as French language skills, qualifying Canadian post-secondary education, valid job offer, provincial / territorial nomination and having a sibling who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
