The business immigration program is an economic class immigration category that aims to attract experienced business immigrants to Canada.
Business immigrants do not apply through the Express Entry system, and business immigration constitutes a small portion of all immigration streams in Canada.
It is intended that these business immigrants will stimulate and contribute to a strong national and regional economic development through their investment, experience, business skills and entrepreneurial ideas as they create job for themselves and other Canadians.
The business immigration streams are:
Investors
Entrepreneur Program (Start-up Visa)
Self-employed
Provincial nominee business stream

These streams were designed such that the immigrant investor stream brings in financial capital to Canada, while the entrepreneur stream stimulates economic development through innovative business ideas and skills that promotes enterprise and employment creation in Canada.
The self-employed stream targets immigrants with the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada and contribute to certain specified economic activities such as athletics, cultural activities and farming.
However, these streams have evolved over time, with the investor stream discontinued and the entrepreneur class replaced with the Star-Up Visa (SUV) program. The self-employed stream remains unchanged, while the provincial business stream is quite dynamic and dependent on the labour and business needs of the province or territory.
