The Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW) is an immigration category for applicants who may become permanent residents based on their ability to become economically established in Canada as workers in a skilled occupation.

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
To apply for Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW) you must meet the minimum requirement outlined by Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). These requirements are based on:
Skilled Work experience:
Skilled work experience means you possess at least one year (1,560 hours total / 30hrs per week) of continuous, full-time work experience or its equivalent amount in part-time basis in one of these TEER categories of the National Occupation Classification (NOC):
1) TEER 0: [Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations Managers, Financial Managers]
2) TEER 1: Financial Advisors, Software Engineers
3) TEER 2: [Computer network and web technicians, Medical Laboratory Technologists]
You must demonstrate that you performed all the essential duties and most of the main outlined in the lead statement of the occupational description of your NOC TEER while you were employed.
This skilled work experience must be:
1) Within the last 10 years prior to your application for immigration through the FSW class.
2) Within same NOC TEER as the primary occupation, you intend using for your immigration application.
3) Paid wages or earn commission as volunteer work or unpaid internship jobs do not count as paid work.
Note that work experience gained as a student may count towards the minimum requirement if the work was continuous, paid by wages / commission and meets all the other requirements of the program.
Education Requirement:
A certificate, diploma or degree from a Canadian secondary or post-secondary institution if the applicant studied in Canada
If the applicant studied outside of Canada (foreign education), you must submit:
1) A completed credentials of your foreign education
2) An Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report for immigration purposes issued from an approved designated organization.
The ECA report demonstrates the Canadian equivalent of your foreign education credentials, as well as its authenticity. The ECA has a validity period of 5 years, and the ECA report reference number is required when making your Express Entry (EE) profile online application.
Language Skills:
You must demonstrate you meet the minimum score of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in all 4 language abilities (Listening, Reading, Speaking and writing) by submitting the test results of your English or French assessments from approved testing organizations. This test result is valid for only 2 years from the date of the result and must be valid on the day you apply for permanent residence.
Selection Factors
Though meeting this class minimum requirements makes you eligible to apply for the FSW class, your application will be assessed using the six selection factors based on:
1) Age
2) Work experience
3) Education
4) English/ French language skills
5) Possession of a valid job offer
6) Adaptability
These selection factors are assigned a 100-point grid eligibility assessment, and you are selected only when you make the current pass mark of 67 out of 100, you are deemed eligible to apply under the FSW class. However, a different system is used to rank your profile once you are in the express entry pool.

Proof of Funds / Settlement Funds
You must show you have enough “settlement” money to support yourself and your family / dependents when you arrive in Canada.
Exemption from Proof of Funds / Settlement Funds
You are exempted from proof of funds if:
1) You are currently able to legally work in Canada
2) Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
Admissibility
If you are applying for permanent residence status under the CEC program:
1) You must be admissible into Canada.
2) You must also have no plans to stay in the province of Quebec.
Province or Territory of Residence in Canada
1) You will choose your preferred province or territory of residence when you fill out your Express Entry profile online. When you enter Canada, you can plan to settle in your chosen province or territory, but it’s not mandatory you have to settle in that province or territory.
2) If a province or territory nominated you, you must settle in the province or territory that nominated you.
3) You must also plan to live outside the province of Quebec. If you plan to live in Quebec, you will have to explore the Quebec- Selected Skilled Workers Class, an immigration program unique to Quebec for selecting skilled workers.
